England Women's Clean Sweep Over New Zealand
Bell and Sciver-Brunt Star as England Women Clinch Series Victory
A Dominant Performance by the England Women's Team
In a thrilling third Metro Bank ODI, England Women have emerged victorious against New Zealand, securing a clean sweep of the series. Led by the brilliance of Tammy Beaumont, Fran Wilson, and Sophie Ecclestone, the hosts put on a dominant display that delighted the home crowd.
Beaumont, who opened the batting for England, played a pivotal role with a superb 72 off just 54 deliveries. Her aggressive strokeplay set the tone for the innings, as England raced to a challenging total of 346/7 in 50 overs. Wilson, batting at number three, contributed a valuable 66, while captain Heather Knight added 50 to the scoreboard.
In response, New Zealand struggled to match England's intensity. The visitors were bowled out for 294 in the 47th over, with only Maddy Green (77) and Katie Perkins (56) offering significant resistance. Ecclestone was the pick of the England bowlers, claiming 3/61 to take her tally for the series to eight wickets.
This victory marks a significant achievement for England Women, who have now won their last five ODI series. They will look to continue their winning streak in the upcoming World Cup qualifier, which is set to take place in Sri Lanka later this year.
